Trending now: the F series Trend Homes

During the 1960s, the builders Assaly and Johannsen combined forces and built a series of homes in Ottawa they marketed at "Trend Homes". One such plan was featured in a 1963 Canadian Builder magazine article about trend-setting houses across the country. There are a number noteworthy aspects of the plan including the ensuite bathroom off of the master bedroom, which was not very common at the time. Also of note is the second door for bedroom 2 off of the foyer - making it flexible as a den space. The partially-covered patio behind the garage is an interesting space.  There are various versions of the F series plan, which are depicted below the article.  The version of the plan below is the one described in the article and was built in Woodroffe on the Green (located southeast of Woodroffe Avenue and Norice Street) and in Aylmer, Quebec, in Glenwood Park . There were 3 facade options all with an asymmetrical window placement on the bedroom wing.  B
